VP Profile: Former Nevada Governor Bob Miller

So now, we're all trying to see who would be the best running mate for Obama. I have a name which has been seldom mentioned, but a possible superb match. This man has experience as a governor, which makes him an outsider, something that reinforces Obama, yet has executive experience. He was in the Army and Air Force Reserves for 7 years, which counts as military experience. Most important of all, he comes from a state, Nevada, and a region in which he can help pick up electoral votes. He is Former Governor of Nevada Bob Miller.

Some more of his resume:

Governor, State of Nevada, January 1989 - January 1999

Vice Chair, National Governors' Association, July 1995 - July 1996 Chair, National Governors' Association, July 1996 - July l997

Born March 30, 1945, Chicago, Illinois

He also endorsed Hillary Clinton which can help bring back supporters but not risk having her on the ticket. Altho I supported her for the top, I just don't feel they would be good on a ticket together because of the tension, and I think feelings may be hard between the Clintons and the Obamas. He is older, more experienced, and outsider and not a Senator. I think this dark horse is perfect for the VP spot.

he graduated from Bishop Gorman?  That school destroyed the high school I coach at in football this year.

And that's my thoughtful input to this diary.

I think there was far more to his profile than that. look at his plethora of qualifications. THAT is why he should be VP.

I wasn't mocking, I just noticed his high school and how good of a football team they had.  I live in Missouri and it was a big deal when they flew out here to play.

I will look into him more don't worry.  From what I saw in his profile he looks pretty good to me.

How are his stances on the issues (none / 0)

Especially women's issues as that is important to unifying the party.  After all Blanche Lincoln wouldn't be a good choice due to her stance on the issues.

Re: How are his stances on the issues (none / 0)

Found this

Being a "pro-choice Republican" separated him from both his Republican primary opponent, then-Secretary of State Cheryl Lau, and in the general election from Democratic Gov. Bob Miller, a pro-life Catholic who held the position that he opposed abortion except in cases of rape, incest and to preserve the life or health of the woman.

No thanks for me.

He can always flip flop (none / 0)

and being that he's been out of office for so long, its very easy to do. I mean, he's more pro-choice than Sam Nunn, or Chuck hagel, who've been thrown around, or John McCain for that matter.

Re: He can always flip flop (none / 0)

I'd also say no to Nunn or Hagel.  I'm certainly not an one issue guy but there are plenty of good Dems on this issue available.  I prefer Sherrod Brown, Tim Kaine, and a number of other candidates.  Bob Miller just doesn't seem to be a big enough fish (he hasn't held office in 8 years) or good enough on policy.

And as much as I'd like identity politics to stay out of it, after HRC lost the nomination so many assumed was hers we shouldn't nominate a candidate on the wrong side of one of the most important issues to female Democrats.
